The Bridge is a Bible-centred, missions-focussed gap year for 18 to 21 year olds. It aims to give you a real taste of global mission and the needs of the world. It's a year to reflect and explore life, to have adventure and fun – and to experience the opportunity to make a difference in your life, and the lives of others!
Importantly, the Bridge is also a hands-on, relational program. You won’t just observe, you’ll do. You’ll get involved in cross-cultural mission, experience the challenges facing people who are oppressed and disadvantaged, and meet all kinds of people from different backgrounds and ministries. You'll dive into lots of different cultures, as well as travel on a mission study tour.
Most of all though, we want you to be transformed through a deeper knowledge of God’s word and growing in Christ-likeness. We want you to be ready to love and serve him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength – for the rest of your life...
The Bridge is made up of five key areas:
Grow in Christ-likeness through Bible-centred learning, mission activities, reflection and prayer. Be mentored and develop a greater confidence in sharing the gospel.
Be part of God’s global mission! Get into hands-on weekly activities centred on mission, mission lectures plus a mid-year cultural trip to South East Asia or Australasia.
Gain a greater understanding of God’s character and purpose with deep and relevant study of the Old Testament, New Testament and Mission. Be transformed by God’s word.
Develop new friendships and sharpen one another. Bridge into new circles with people from other cultures, missionaries, mission organisations, para-church ministries and lecturers.
Get a tool box of very practical life and ministry skills. Learn how to give a Bible talk, cook for a crowd, brew a great cup of coffee, drive safely, give first aid and lots, lots more!
